One of 20 semi-finalists for the $119M XPRIZE Water Scarcity prize.
Desolenator produces ultrapure water at industrial scale using solar or waste heat thermal energy: no chemicals, no membranes, no toxic brine. Two active deployments in the UAE. Validated for 1000 m³/day.

Recognised at global level
Desolenator is one of 20 semi-finalists selected from 674 competing teams in the XPRIZE Water Scarcity competition. Sponsored by the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative, the five-year prize challenges teams to develop desalination systems capable of producing 1,000 m³ of clean water per day from seawater, reliably and at scale. Circular, resilient desalination. No inputs but seawater and sunlight or waste heat.
Desolenator uses solar thermal energy or low-grade industrial waste heat to evaporate saline or contaminated water and collect pure condensate. The output is high quality ultrapure water, free from contaminants. At a cost of: $1 USD per 1,000 litres.

“Being selected as an XPRIZE semi-finalist validates what we have proven in the field: that solar thermal desalination can deliver ultrapure water at a cost the world can actually afford. The prize is an accelerant. The technology is already working.”

This is not an application. It is a verdict.
The $119M XPRIZE Water Scarcity competition does not select teams based on proposals or prototypes. Semi-finalist status is awarded only to organisations that have already demonstrated working technology at meaningful scale. Desolenator is one of 20 teams worldwide to have cleared that bar.

“Desolenator has innovated a fundamentally different clean water supply architecture. The shift from centralized, energy-intensive desalination plants to distributed, energy-efficient solar or waste-heat-driven solutions to cost-competitively purify water is the structural change in approach that the potable-water-stressed and increasingly thirsty world needs now more so than ever. Reaching the top 20 globally reconfirms my conviction that this technology is ready to scale.”
